MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (MFA)¶
MFA is a security mechanism that requires more than one method to authenticate individuals logging into the system.
To prevent unauthorized access, NPPES will now require users to go through MFA when logging into the system. MFA is accomplished by the system sending the user a code, which in turn, the user will enter into the system for verification. Users have a limited number of attempts to correctly enter the code before their account will be locked.
When logging into NPPES, users must first enter their User ID and Password, then go through Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
